Leonardo Jardim appointed new coach of Cruzeiro

Portuguese Leonardo Jardim announced on Tuesday that he has taken up the position of the new head coach of the Brazilian football club Cruzeiro, succeeding the previously dismissed due to poor results head coach Fernando Diniz. "I am very pleased to sign a contract with Cruzeiro. We will be together in the near future," said the 50-year-old Jardim in a video posted on the official site of the club, which is based in Belo Horizonte (southeast Brazil).

Former French coach "Monaco" officially completed his cooperation with the Emirati club Al-Ain, which he headed since last December, and was the first to become a coach of the club from South America. Jardim, who won the French championship and reached the semifinals of the Champions League with "Monaco" in 2017, signed a contract until the end of 2026 with the statement of the Brazilian club.

Jardim came to replace Diniz, who led the Brazilian national team for a short time in 2023 and was dismissed last week due to the disappointment of fans with the poor results of the team.
